Perennial favorite Roald Dahl would have celebrated his 94th birthday on September 13th - but we'll be celebrating our love of all things Dahl th
e ENTIRE MONTH of SEPTEMBER! Come check out our special display of Dahl's classic titles - like 'The Fantastic Mr. Fox,' 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,' 'The Witches,' and so many more! While you're here, pick up an Official Reading Journal and take part in the Dahlathon reading competition - you might even win a copy of the brand new book The Missing Golden Ticket and Other Splendiferous Secrets!
We're also asking for kids of ALL ages to submit a work of art depicting their favorite scene from one of Dahl's tales for display in the store. There might even be a special treat in it for you! As if that weren't enough, the cafe' is getting in on the act, too, with special themed beverages including a James and the Giant Peach (Exploding) Soda, and a scrumdiddlyumptious Butterscotch Latte.

Every decade or so, a book comes along that completely changes how we parent. From Dr. Spock’s 'Baby and Child Care' to Berry Brazelton’s 'Infant and Mothers', these landmark books have influenced our thinking about how children learn and develop and have dramatically transformed how we nurture our children’s social, emotional and intellectual growth.
We are now poised to take another major step in our understanding of how children learn and how parents can help with the April 2010 publication of MIND IN THE MAKING: The Seven Essential Life Skills Every Child Needs (HarperStudio) by Ellen Galinsky, president of the Families and Work Institute. Bringing together all of the new science of child development in an understandable way, Galinsky offers a groundbreaking parenting book – one that will alter the way we raise and teach our children while showing us (instead of telling us) how to go about it.
Join us in store on Saturday, September 11, from 2 - 4 pm as Ellen Galinsky makes an in-store appearance to host a discussion of her groundbreaking new work and sign books!

And on Thursday, September 16th, from 11-1, we are very pleased to welcome retired Marshall University Professor Bob Barnett, author of 'Growing Up in the Last Small Town: A West Virginia Memoir." You won't want to miss this one!
